Los antiguos Kapetanakis.

Se les cita en muchos textos como una de las familias griegas más antiguas. Aunque se les sitúa generalmente en la defensa de Atenas ante los turcos, las referencias más viejas corresponden a la región de Mani y a la isla de Creta. De ésta se hacen muchas referencias durante la época de dominación veneciana. Aquí se anexan algunas transcripciones:

(52.) The palace of the Sardar was then situated on the northeast slope of the Acropolis, next to the Jesuit Mission and the Hospice of the Calogers Medelli. The chief Christian official of Athens, the Vecchiados Capitanakis, lived across the street from the Monument of Lysikrates and the Hospice of the Capuchins, which he supervised, and next door to the Greek Orthodox monastery of the Calogeres.

En otra versión del mismo libro, de Pouqueville dice que los Capitanakis son de las familias más antiguas del país ( Grecia, referencia que se confirma muchas veces en otros textos.
